Today my heart was drawn to Psalm 51.
It seems like this Psalm is like a big drink of reality for our walk. David is praying to God and just pouring it out like everything about what’s really on the inside. Not bragging to God about what he had conquered or how he had done so great in another moment and not even comparing himself to the past leadership era (Saul).
That's when it hit me...we are experts at deflecting our sinfulness by exalting the blunders of another.
Not David...he takes it head-on. He acknowledges his failures and flaws. He gives a couple requests: wash me, purge me, make me – God does all that and more.
Lord, help me to continue to be awakened to the fact of my own lostness, my own wandering, my own need of You in every single area of my life, my home, our church, our mission. for without You, we have no chance.
Take a second if you can to check out psalm 51:10-11. It’s strong.
