Waiting On The Waves

Every year while we were on vacation in Southern Cal we take a couple days to be near the beach. I love being at the beach.

I was totally unaware Terica snapped this picture while we were at Laguna Beach.

As I stood there waiting on the next wave to crash up over the top of that rock in front of me I couldn’t help but think about all the different waves God has sent along in my life.

So many times God’s sent some incredible opportunities my way and I simply wasn’t ready for them. I wasn’t paying attention. My thoughts and focus were elsewhere. I missed them.

There have been other times I was ready but too anxious. I got nervous and wasn’t willing to wait on His timing and took things into my own hands and got too far out in front of Him.

I’m learning more and more I need to be ready and willing to wait to hear God’s voice and when He says "Go" enjoy the wave of opportunity that comes my way.

David reminds us in Psalm 31:15 “My times are in your hands...”
What wave are you waiting on?
Maybe it has to do with…
-getting inolved in a ministry
-a relationship
-starting something new
-changing jobs
-a major purchase
-having children

My prayer for you today is that you’ll continue to be ready, and then wait on His voice. When you sense the timing is right, trust His voice and then ride the wave with everything you’ve got.

Who knows...you just might go on the ride of your life.

I'm Back (Maybe...)

I'm back from vacation...had an awesome time!

Next week I might resume regular blogging. Let me know if you're waiting to hear more from me. If I don't hear from you I might just assume me blogging isn't necessary.

Here are a few pics from our vacation to tide you over til then.

Take care my friends!

10 Years Ago Today...

Ten years ago Terica and I took steps together into a new covenant with a new view of the world.

Since that day we've shared hundreds of life-shaping events. We've seen each other through good times and we've helped each other endure difficult times.

Through many conversations, questions and memorable moments we've unpacked some of our deepest dreams, hopes and aspirations. We decided a long time ago - together - to maintain the ideals and values we believe in. The direction and purpose we share offers tremendous hope for the journey that lies ahead.

We keep taking steps together - now able to stare at the footsteps that brought us here and confident the purposes of God will keep us moving toward what He has for us. Facing the next season of our life together will require radical commitment - and new thinking - as the journey is filled with change. We are determined to prepare for it.

Much of what lies ahead is unpredictable. The constant shifting and adjusting of our culture and world, means we can't freeze a moment-in-time to fix it forever.

So we will hold the scriptures, each other and the Hand of Christ as we take our next steps together. Only God knows what lies ahead. We will trust His lead, walk His way and follow in His steps.

I am quite certain that no man could ask for a greater wife, partner, friend and traveling companion. I am honored to walk the rest of my life with the wife of my youth and I resolve to do just that.

Job 23:11-12 - My foot has always walked in his steps; his way I have kept and have not turned aside. From the commands of his lips I have not departed; the words of his mouth I have treasured in my heart.

Checking In

Oops...I guess its been awhile since I've blogged.

What can I say...summer is here and I've been enjoying some down time.

Just wanted to let you know that vacation is nearing and my appearences around here are going to be very few and far between while I'm gone. I'm going to be unplugging from almost everything for the next couple of weeks.

If I update anything anywhere it will be on twitter...I can do that on the go from my cell phone.

So until then...know I love you and we'll talk again in a few weeks! =)

Sidenote: If there is something that I can pray for you about I'd love for you to leave me a comment and let me know. I'll still be getting those and would love to pray for you while I'm away.

Final Thoughts From Practical Atheist Series

Well between school getting out and finishing up tee-ball things have been pretty hectic lately. I enjoyed a quiet morning at home this morning catching my breath.

It always seems that when things get busy blogging is the first thing that I cut from my schedule. Twitter doesn't help either...because I can hammer out a quick thought or let everyone in on what I'm doing and it takes so much less time.

Now that summer is here my schedule is going to really free up but I don't think I'll be blogging anymore than I have been here lately. With vacation and time off scheduled you might want to follow along on twitter because if I update anything anywhere that will be where.

Before I close this out I just wanted to post a few closing thoughts on our last series Practical Atheist.

- You and only you can answer the question: "Are you who you say you are?"
- As followers of Jesus Christ we are called to completely submit to His authority in EVERY area of our lives…we don’t get to pick and choose.
- I think that people who follow Christ out of convenience do more damage to God’s Kingdom than those who do not follow Christ at all!
- I really fear that Christianity for many people has been reduced to, “live however you want…just show up at church every once in a while and you will be fine!” The only problem with that is that I can't find that ANYWHERE in scripture!

We start a new series this weekend and I am so pumped about it!!! One Prayer and the theme this year is "God Is..." I am excited about you getting to hear from some of the leaders who are influencing me. Keep in mind...who is preaching isn’t important–what is being preached is…and we will always make sure that what is being preached is JESUS! You won't want to miss any of this series.

NewLife...I love you guys! If you missed any of the Practical Atheist series I think you should listen to what you missed. Email us and request a copy or we'll give you information on how you can download it.

I praying for you...
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spiritof wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
